In this week’s Parsha, Jacob gives his blessings to his twelve sons and to Ephraim and Menashe. Jacob said ohrgbv ,t lrch gr kfn h,t ktdv ltknv, “the Angel that redeemed me from all evil shall bless the children”(Genesis 48:16) According to the Talmud (Pesachim 118a), the redemption will be an easier task than feeding the world as the prior sentence says that God shepherds (feeds) Jacob and the protection comes with only the aid of an angel . With the aid of the codes, we see additional meanings. The Gematria of the term , ktdv , Ha’goel, meaning that redeemed, has a Gematria of 39. The number 39 reminds me of the 39 categories of labor that is forbidden on the Sabbath. In my interpretation, if we properly observe the laws of the Sabbath, we will be redeemed.
It is also the Gematria of Hashem Echad, or God is one (See Shema Yisroel Prayer) .  If we take the acronym of the encircled letters it spells the word khkf, kliel, entirely. This term can be found in Exodus where the Torah says, ,kf, khkf suptv khgn ,t ,hagu , “You shall make the Robe of the Ephod entirely of blue (some translate it as turquoise)”(Exodus 28:31). According to the Baal Haturim, he states, “the Gematria of the word supt, Ephod (91) is equal to that of ltkn, angel, for the Kohen Gadol was garbed like an angel.” As noted from the above encircled letters, the Sofei Tevot (last letter code)  spells the word khkf, kliel, meaning entirely, which is the same word in the phrase in Exodus. Hence we could say that Jacob was protected by a blue angel. We know that blue is associated with heaven as we are told in Talmud Yerushalmi Berachos 81a that the blue (techeiles) fringe worn on the tsitsis is similar to the sea, the sea is similar to heaven and heaven is similar to throne of G-d. Moreover, it says in http://www.shuvubonim.org/19av.html  “Every day, the judgments are renewed. By getting up early before the sky is the color of techeiles, then all the judgments are nullified. Techeiles is the aspect of judgment. When you go with techeiles on the tzitzis, it cancels all of the judgments [Likutei Moharan I:49, paragraph 7]. “Consume (kalei) them in wrath, consume them that they may be no more” (Tehillim 59:14).  “Techeiles comes from the root ‘kal,’ for it consumes (achlei) everything (kol) and destroys everything.”

We see that khkf also comprises the term kf (kol) and we also see that the word kfn (from all)  is also used in the same phrase. Hence Jacob always had special protection from perhaps a blue Angel named Kli’el who rescued him from all evil. It is interesting to note that the word khkf  can be found 15 times in  Tanach. The number 15 is significant as it is the Gematria of the v-h, yud- hey ,  the name of God that represents the creation of this world and the next world. It is the right time to bring up this subject as Jacob wanted to disclose what would happen to his offspring in the end of days but it became hidden from him (See Genesis 49:1) as it was noted by Rabbi Shimon Ben Lakish who said, vbhfa ubnn vek, obu  ihnhv .e uhbck ,ukdk cegh aehc ,
“Jacob wanted to reveal his sons the end of days but the Divine Presence departed from him”(Talmud Bavli Pesachim 56a). What is interesting to note is that there appears to be a code in the Talmud as well as the encoded letters spells the term, vkke, which means curse. Perhaps it is forbidden to reveal about it as there may be a curse associated with it.  In fact, Jacob used this word when he said  the following
vfrc tku vkke hkg h,tcvu , “and I will bring upon myself a curse and not a blessing”
(Genesis 27:12). Even the curses are tempered as we find the term vkke, exactly 26 times in the  lb, , Tanach (as per Bar Ilan University program) which means that even if one is cursed it is tempered with the mercy of God’s holy name whose Gematria is also 26.
In leaving our short essay on a positive note, there is another code in the Talmudic phrase and it is similar to our first encoded finding. The encoded letters of the phrase .e uhbck ,ukdk cegh  , spells the term khke (which means lighter- see Gittin 56a) and under the rules of Gematria, since the e kof is interchangeable with the ;f caf, we can read it as khkf, entirely. This means that God will entirely consume our enemies and speedily rebuild our Temple.[1]
