In this week’s Parsha , God commands us to build a sanctuary. A craftsman or a woodworker would really appreciate the intricate details and precise measurements of the sanctuary and it’s articles. The sanctuary in the desert was known as the ifan Mishkan (see Exodus 38:21). When the Israelites settled in the land of Israel, they were to build the sanctuary, which was come to known as the Beis Hamikdosh or House of Holiness (mentioned first by Rashi at Genesis 28:17). The first temple was built by Solomon who was of the tribe of Yehuda. It is interesting to note that we see several allusions to the descendants of Yehuda in this Parsha. The Torah says ofu,c h,bfau asen hk uagu, “and they will build for me a temple and I will dwell in it” (Exodus 25:8). Imagine, the Master of the whole universe allowed His spiritual presence to reside in this tiny portable temple. It was a great gift to mankind as all of the blessings emanated through it. If only the world would take heed and do God’s commandment to build a temple, it would bring immediate world peace. If we take the last letters of the above encircled letters, it spells the name hah,Yishai, Jesse, who was the father of King David. Moreover, according to Dr. Arie Friedman, MD, the term, vnur,, which is the name of this week’s Parsha, alludes to the house of Jesse as we find that the first 3 letters are comprised of a ,, tav, r,reish, and u, vav, which stands for ,ur , Ruth, who was the grandmother of King David(lehavdil, the House of Ruth built Yankee stadium).Further on, the Torah says, that they shall place the testimonial (two tablets) into the ark testimony. If we take the hidden letters of the term,,sgvha’edut, the testimony (Exodus 25:21) it comes to 497. Another phrase with the same number is ohnut, toamim, meaning twins. This word can be found in Genesis 38:27 in which the Torah describes the twins of Yehuda, Peretz and Zerach.
Remember, it was from one of these twins (Peretz) that emerged King David, King Solomon and the future Messiah. If we take the hidden letters of the term, toamim, it comes to 212, which is the Gematria of rutv, Haor, the light (Genesis 1:4). Hence we see that the tablets of the testimony, that were of composed of sapphire stone, were really the source ofheavenly light. It is this light that the Messiah will bring forth to the world. We also learn that the term Messiah is associated with leadership as we are told that Samuel the prophet anointed King David ( 1 Samuel 16:13).Moreover, one of the key functions of the temple would be for one to get close to God by obtaining forgiveness for one’s sins based on the sacrifices and prayers in the temple. Indeed, we an allusion to this with the anointing of King David, where it says the following, inav ire ,tktuna jehu u,t janhu, “and Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him”(1 Samuel ). If we take the acronym of the encircled letters , it spells the word, iubj,, tachanun, supplication, which is also part of our morning prayer ritual. Oil was also used to anoint the articles of the Mishkan. What was so special of oil ? From a Gematria perspective, oil shares the same Gematria as ohna,Heaven (390) which means that the oil is bringing down heaven (spirituality) to earth. Moreover, one of the colors that played a central role in the Mishkan was ,kf,Techeiles, or sky blue. According to the Torah, when the Mishkan was traveling, the ark was covered with a cover made of Techeiles(see Numbers 4:6).Even the ohcrfcherubim, which were made of pure gold, also allude to Techeiles as the hidden letters of that word has a Gematria of 850, which is the same as Techeiles. Moreover, cvz, gold and,kf,, sky blue are even mentioned together in Exodus 39:5
According to Wickipedia free online encyclopedia, “in religion, Royal Blue is the color of royalty to welcome the coming of a King.” Indeed, we see an allusion to this with the aid of Gematria. When God commanded Samuel to anoint a new king, He told him the following, hnjkv ,hc hah kt ljkatlku , “and Go to Jesse the Bethlehemite”( 1 Samuel 16:1). If we take the Gematria of“to Jesse the Bethlehmite, it is 856. Another word with the same number is ,kf,u, and Techeiles (sky blue) which can be found in this Parsha as one of the colors of the fabric for the Tabernacle (see Exodus 25:4) . Perhaps this finding is an allusion to the origin ofthe color of the flag of Yehuda, which was blue.[1] As the king represented heaven on earth, it would be appropriate for the tribe of Yehuda to display this color. May we hope and pray that we merit the rebuilding of the temple so that we can bring the light of Heaven on Earth.
